West Coast Holiday Cottages
|
The West Highland Way is Scotland’s oldest and most popular walking route and the reason it is so popular is because it takes in some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, scenery which defines the West Coast. The route starts just north of Glasgow and ends in Fort William, but even so misses out on all the sights and activities in Ayrshire and much of Argyll and Bute; areas best experienced from the comfort and style of the many first class holiday cottages.

Each part of the west coast has its own unique attractions, from the beaches and family resorts of Ayrshire, through the urban centres of Glasgow and surrounds to the myriad of outdoor activity centres in Argyll and around Fort William, itself the starting point for new adventures in the highlands. Factor in the many lochs and all associated water sports and activities and it easy to see why west coast holiday cottages are large in number and high in quality.
Holiday cottages take on a variety of forms. Some are situated on their own, offering peace and seclusion amidst the wonderful views and others form a part of a series of cottages and other accommodation options, within recognised camping sites and activity centres. Particularly popular are log cabins, which have boundless rustic charm mixed with modern facilities and amenities, but there are other options including conversions from farm buildings and other properties, existing stone country cottages, and completely new builds.
The right cottage for you will depend on your requirements. A small and intimate traditional cottage is ideal for a romantic break while a larger property close to all the attractions and activities may be better for families. In either case all the lounge, dining and cooking features will be in place offering everything required for an enjoyable stay in Scotland’s dramatic and beautiful west coast.
