| Gelston Castle Holidays is a small, family-owned and family-run business providing self-catering holiday cottages in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland (What We Offer). But that's not the whole story: Gelston Castle Estate is itself a character in the play, and a big part of "Who We Are". |
| To avoid confusion: we are not connected with Gelston Lodge Cottages, a development of a formerly derelict farm steading on the estate. The owners are very nice people, and they've done a beautiful job of the conversion, but they are entirely unrelated to us. |
| Alexander & Lucinda Scott have been permanently resident at Gelston since 1989, following their return from the rather different environment of Tokyo. They jointly run Gelston Castle Holidays. You will find examples of Lucinda's particular skill at making proper curtains and other soft furnishings such as bed valances and headboards. |
| The Scotts live in Gelston House, formerly the head gardener's house, adjoining the Gelston Castle stable courtyard and walled garden complex. Here they have brought up their three children, Amy, Jemima and Theo, who are now more or less on the last lap of full-time education. |
| Home-from-home: stretch out in your own space. We offer a range of sizes, styles and prices. Four self-contained houses sleeping 2 to 7, in the castle's former stable courtyard. In all our houses we focus on what really matters for a good holiday, based on our own first-hand experience. |
