The Central Belt may encompass the major urban centres of the country, from Glasgow to Edinburgh but it starts on the Ayrshire coast and ends on the eastern coast of the Lothians, and both places have popular seaside resorts preceded by some outstanding rural areas rich in history and rural splendour. Holiday cottages in these areas are well placed for the coastal activities and also for the full range of outdoor activities and country sports on offer, such as walking, cycling, horse riding and fishing.
To the immediate north west of Glasgow is the West Highland Way and Loch Lomond and to the south east the Clyde Valley, all within easy reach of the city and ideal for a short break for two or a self catering family holiday within a first class cottage. Some are built for two and offer romantic seclusion while others are large and equipped with all modern amenities for families.
The central belt holiday cottages themselves may be modern barn conversions, traditional or modern homes, or have all the rustic charm of log cabin, but all will offer a similar high standard of accommodation, often fully inclusive of electricity, heating and bedding. Many are directly associated with certain outdoor activity centres or campsites and others will stand alone in wonderful natural surrounds.
