| Cairnsmore Stable Cottage is a 200 year-old traditional Galloway Category B Listed Building that was originally part of the stable block for the private Cairnsmore Estate. Formerly used as a smithy and dining area for the estate workers it now provides holiday accommodation to a very high standard for 2-4. Located six miles from Newton Stewart, the estate is the ancestral home of the Stewart family and was once a shooting estate of the Dukes of Bedford. As soon as you drive through the gates, along the avenue bordered by rhododendron and broad-leaf trees, the surroundings evoke a by-gone time. The cottage's unique and peaceful location makes this an ideal base for relaxing and exploring. The local area appeals both to the outdoor and wildlife enthusiast and those who enjoy discovering the surrounding towns, historical properties and beautiful gardens that benefit from the influence of the Gulf Stream. |
| Refurbished at the beginning of 2010, the cottage now offers several features to improve guest's comfort and utilise renewable energy, the most important being the Geothermal Underfloor Central Heating System with 24/7 hot water. Other improvements include a new bathroom, a woodburning stove in the living room and flagstone flooring throughout the main living areas creating a cosy cottage atmosphere. |
The cottage has two comfortable bedrooms, both carpeted and overlooking the back garden. A spacious master bedroom, with a king size bed and a second bedroom with two full-size single beds. The bathroom has a luxurious double-ended bathtub, with traditional over-head shower (heated towel rail and shaver point). Freshly laundered Egyptian cotton bed linen, kitchen and bathroom towels are provided.
A comfortably furnished lounge offers two large sofas, a flat screen TV with Freeview, a DVD player, CD and radio. After a busy day of sight seeing and discovering the local area, it's the perfect spot for relaxing and mulling over the days activities, or planning future excursions in front of a real fire.

| The kitchen diner is fully equipped with all you'd expect including a ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, washing machine and larder fridge. All the necessary cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are supplied as well as a very handy traditional ceiling mounted clothes dryer called a "Pulley Maid". |
| Outside, guests have the use of the south-facing enclosed garden, a wonderful sun-trap where red squirrels and greater spotted woodpeckers are frequent visitors – also a favourite spot with guests! BBQ, garden furniture and sandstone flagstone patio area provided. The courtyard garage and wood store offers secure storage for mountain bikes, canoes etc., with a security padlock and eye-bolt for added security. Parking is available for one car (two by arrangement). |
| Cairnsmore Stable Cottage is owner-managed and has been operating since 2008. It is available for rent all year round and is pet friendly. |
