From the moment you arrive at your holiday destination, this converted 1859 Old Church immediately welcomes you in and will become your own home-from-home in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
The house is warm and cosy, with a wood burning stove being a feature of the kitchen and dining area. It is a clever conversion, and offers modern, comfortable and stylish 4 star quality self-catering accommodation, ideal for 2 to 4 occupants (no smoking and no pets.)
Come and enjoy a great location, and comfortable house, with private gardens and parking in the beautiful and picturesque village of St. Fillans in Perthshire. The village has won best kept village awards, and is in a glorious setting on the banks of Loch Earn. The villagers have a reputation for their friendliness, and our guests have often remarked upon how at home they have been made to feel by the warmth of the welcome received.
The joy of the location is that it is a perfect highland setting, and yet is so easily accessible, being within easy driving distance from the major cities of Stirling, Glasgow, Perth & Edinburgh, which are between 40 minutes to just over an hour's drive away. Perthshire is simply wonderful at any time of the year – and the scenery is very beautiful – look out for deer in the hills, and ospreys on the loch.
Every care and attention is paid to ensure that your stay will be as comfortable as possible. You can choose your preference in a range of luxurious bedding and pillows. Clean crisp cotton sheets, goose-down or slumber-down duvets and pillows, cotton cellular blankets, fluffy white towels and dressing gowns are provided.
The 6ft 9inch long beds can be arranged either as super king-size (two single beds zipped together) or separated into twins. There are two bedrooms - The front bedroom has a bath, basin & toilet, en-suite. The rear bedroom has a power shower adjacent, with the toilet and basin being just downstairs.
The house is generously equipped with everything you might need to enjoy your visit, with Sky TV, Wireless Broadband, MP3 player, TV's and DVD's in all rooms. The kitchen has electric hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, toasted sandwich maker, George Foreman grill, rice-cooker, slow-cooker. There are ample pots, pans, cook-ware, crockery and cutlery to meet your needs. For outdoors we have available for you :- garden furniture, sun-loungers, picnic chairs, portable barbecue, walking sticks, & binoculars.
The rental rates include changeover house-keeping costs, electricity and logs, and also a starter pack (bacon, eggs, bread, milk, butter) (let us know if you prefer a vegetarian option). In the kitchen cupboards we have a stock of most general basic grocery items, tea, coffee, sugar, pasta, rice, oil, sauces, condiments, tinned goods, jams, marmalade, pickles etc. etc. The idea is that guests can use what they need and kindly replace anything that runs out.
The village shop is almost next door - ideal for most basic needs, newspapers, etc. and they have a nice coffee shop offering a snack menu and cakes. There are three hotels in the village, all within easy walking distance, ideal for bar-meals and restaurant catering.
St Fillans 9-hole Golf Course is a short walk from the house, and is situated in a most attractive in the valley between the high hills, and offers good wholesome home-made meals.
The neighbouring village of Comrie (about 6 miles) has more shops - fuel station, bank, butcher, grocery store, cafe, delicatessen, hairdresser etc, and the market town of Crieff is 12 miles to the east.
We look forward to offering you a warm Scottish welcome to The Old Church – to enjoy all that beautiful St. Fillans has to offer. It is a great location for water sports, fishing, walking, hiking, bird-watching, cycling, golfing, shopping, and touring, or just to relax and chill out.
